European Championship Qualification: Italy in the European Championship



Italy – Greece 2: 0 (0: 0)

  

The Italian national football team is sure of the European Championship next year thanks to the seventh victory in the seventh match of the European Championship qualifiers. 2-0 defeated Italy Greece and finished with 21 points, the first place in Group J. The Italians reached it as early as ever a European Championship finals. Finland have nine points behind Finland with three games to go, but Italy have won the direct comparison twice. Belgium was the first team to qualify.

  

Italy only hit Greece in the second half: After a handball by Andreas Bouchalakis, referee Sergey Karasev decided to take the penalty, transforming Jorginho to the lead (63 minutes). Federico Bernadeschi put in a low shot from around 25 meters (78 ').

  
  

Norway – Spain 1: 1 (0: 0)

  

Also Spain had won all matches of the European Championship qualification so far. But against Norway, the team dropped points for the first time. After a poor first half Spain came out of the cab more dangerous. By distance shot Saúl Niguez took the lead (47.). Norway then played the equalizer, but did not come to dangerous chances for a long time. In extra time keeper Kepa, however, Omar Elabdellaoui in the penalty area from the legs and caused a penalty. He made Joshua King equal (90. + 3).

  

With 19 points, Spain leads Group F ahead of Sweden with 14 points. If Spain wins the direct duel next Tuesday, the team will be sure of the European Championship.

  

Sergio Ramos set a record: The Spanish captain surpassed the former national goalkeeper Iker Casillas with his 168th mission. The 33-year-old Ramos made his debut in a 3-0 win over China in 2005, winning the title in 2010 and the European title in 2008 and 2012.

  

Denmark – Switzerland 1: 0 (0: 0)

  

RB Leipzig's Yussuf Poulsen gave Denmark a 1-0 victory over Switzerland with a late goal. He successfully concluded a counterattack five minutes before the end of the match and made sure that the Danes, with twelve points in the Group D table, passed the previous leader Ireland (also 12) thanks to a far better chance of scoring.
