Hall: References to right-wing extremist motive – perpetrator to be a 27-year-old German

In the case of the attack on the Jewish community in Halle, new details become known: According to SPIEGEL information, the alleged perpetrator is the 27-year-old Stephan B. from Saxony-Anhalt. The investigators are now in front of a video that the assassin apparently using a helmet camera recorded. The film shows how B. shoots a passerby near the Jewish cemetery and a guest in a kebab bistro near the synagogue.


The video gives clear indications of an anti-Semitic and right-wing extremist motive. So the offender scolded several times about "Jews" and "Kanaken". According to information from the SPIEGEL B. was previously not known to the police. He was arrested in the afternoon. Due to the gravity of the deed, the Attorney General has drawn the investigation.


First, the police had spoken on Twitter of several perpetrators. In the meantime, the authorities assume a single perpetrator. However, investigations into possible accomplices are still in their infancy. The acute danger situation in Halle has since been lifted.
