Finally, the filming of the new Mortal Kombat movie begins, with the first set photos now available. In addition, Warner Bros. and New Line confirm the cast of roles for the comeback.
Already in the 90s there were two adaptations of the fighting-game classic with Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat 2 – Annihilation. Now, Warner Bros. and New Line dare try a new reboot and it should have it in them. So the film in the US should be provided with an R rating, which would be comparable to the FSK 18 with us. In addition, for the first time the fatalities known from the game in the film should have a function.
In Australia, more specifically in South Australia, filming has started. This can be seen, among other things, on the Twitter account of screenwriter Greg Russo, who posted a picture of the first day of shooting. Among others, Simon McQuoid, who is known as a commercial film maker, is also involved in the script. James Wan, who is known as a director mainly for his horror films like Conjuring but also for blockbusters like Aquaman, serves as a producer of Mortal Kombat.
In addition, the cast was officially announced as part of the shooting start. The Raid-known actor Joe Taslim takes on the role of the icy fighter Sub-Zero, Ludi Lin plays the unrestrained warrior Liu Kang and Jessica McNamee personifies the single-minded Sonya Blade. Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Josh Lawson as the Kano known with the laser eye and Mehcad Brooks as Jax Briggs will also be on display in Mortal Kombat. Additionally there are Chin Han, Max Huang, Sisi Stringer and Lewis Tan.
