Patrick Herrmann saves the Fohlenelf from the second Europa League defeat

Patrick Herrmann has just saved Borussia Mönchengladbach from the second defeat in the Europa League. The substitute's offensive player scored in the 90th minute to equalize 1-0 (0-0) at Basaksehir Istanbul.

Nevertheless, the Bourussia must fear for the desired progress in the Europa League. For the first time this season, Borussia was unable to win an away game against Turkish favorite Recep Tayyip Erdogan at their favorite club founded in 2014.

After all, Herrmann made a point after Basaksehir took the lead through Edin Visca (55 '). After the overall weak game, the Borussia are but as in 2012 after two group matches with only one point there.

Seven years ago, still succeeded in the knockout round. For the Gladbacher but would have to increase as fast as possible. Coach Marco Rose's team will have to play in AS Roma in three weeks.

After a fierce start to the European Cup, coach Rose demanded a win in Istanbul. The recent strong away appearances should serve as a motivator, but they did not. For only about 5,000 spectators, a good third of them from Gladbach, was far too limited in purpose and speed in the Borussia game.

The Turks, with many aging ex-internationals in the squad, were more aggressive and committed

In the first 45 minutes, Borussia only had a real chance to score when Marcus Thuram headed home to keeper Mert Gunok (20 ').

However, the Bundesliga fifth also had bad luck that there was no hand penalty just before, as Ponck fended off a shot by Florian Neuhaus with his arm spread out. However, video evidence does not exist in the group stage of the Europa League.

Wendt's fatal loss of the ball stuns Gladbach

The better options, however, came from Basaksehir, co-founded by Erdogan. Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer was also in a dangerous volley from Danijel Aleksic (3) as well as in attempts by Visca (24) and Irfan Kahveci (36).

The rustic style of the hosts did not impress only the rose-elf, but also decimated her. So Pléa had to leave the pitch after a nasty kick from Enzo Crivelli, for the French came veteran Raffael, who also caused a bit of order in the Gladbach offensive game.

The negligence remained and should be punished in the second round. After an unnecessary loss of the ball by Oscar Wendt, who again had the preference of new signing Ramy Bensebaini, Crivelli staged a long ball Visca. The Bosnian did not miss the chance and slipped the ball into the goal past summer.

But at the last minute Herrmann struck from close range.
